    Another teacher

I teach philosophy at SUNY Cortland. Wear a kilt a few times each semester (increasing each semester), always at Univ functions, graduations convocations, parties. College president has said nice things about it. Students seem to appreciate it. Get the usual comments . . . "what's under there?" etc. But you get into all kinds of interesting conversations with folk.

High school biology teacher, where kilts are not OK under our strict dress code, and part-time community college anatomy instructor, where I teach every class kilted except when we're doing really messy labs (I really have to get to work on my Prince Charlie lab jacket )

Oh yeah...summer time hike leader, and I plan on hiking every day kilted from now on! WaaaHooo!

Not a Prince Charlie, but how about this for a lab coat?

As for me - uniformed federal employee, so no kilt on me at work. Maybe once I progress from the chanter to the bagpipes I'll see if there's a local honor guard - there's national precedence for kilts there.

(I was looking for San Diego - they have an entire pipe band - but Laredo will do.)

I remember seeing a photo on the Utilikilts web site, about a postal delivery clerk (Mailman) wearing a kilt while delivering mail. It was designed with the same blue grey material, and even had a blue strip down the sides. I wonder how long he got away with it?

Well, I guess I will add myself to the list.

    Another I.T. Geek
Been doing this for almost 20 years, from field service to desktop support. Before that I was in Hotel/Restaurant Mgmt. for 6 years.

Currently I do desktop support for the 2nd largest music company, at their Audio/Video Studios in New York City.
Wore a kilt the first time to work on Tartan Day, got very positive responses from all, just a few "skirt" jokes from friends trying to get a rise from me.

Of course I will be wearing them in the future!

I am the Regional Quality Control Manager for one of the countries largest construction companies. Since I am subject to being called out to the field on a moment's notice, wearing the kilt to work is out of the question for me.

Our field safety and dress code requires that long pants be worn. We are under constant scrutiny by three layers of safety people, our own, the insurance carriers and the clients. Violation of the safety rules is not an option for an upper level manager.

    interesting thread...

I work as an Estimator/Project Manager for a midsized General Contractor ~ $35-$60 million year.

Been doing it for almost 7 years. Kilts really aren't an option due to meeting with clients or being on site. Some of the real estate brokers/owners/property managers aren't that opened minded regarding dress. So khakis and a dress shirt are usually my standard office uniform.

(Shhhh, don't tell anyone, probably jumping ship in about a year. Bored with the job and might be getting a job with Shell)

hmm.. I'd have to say, based on the fact that geeks rarely get any female attention, there isn't a single geek here!

I work for a county government. I haven't quite got nerve yet to wear my kilts at work yet. Don't think it will be a problem since I work on the computer most of the day.

I was planning on wearing one on Tartan Day last week but didn't. My wife asked me why not...I said I was giving blood that day and was not sure I could hop up on the table without flashing folks She said good point.
