You want to talk about calf problems? I've always been blessed with strong, large calves. Just my genes I guess. Or the fact that I'm short and I have to stand on tip-toes to reach stuff!
But seriously, I never worried about my calves until my leg injury. Now that I can't walk one my left leg much my calves have begun to whither away. My right calf is still in good shape but my left is a shell of its former self. You don't even need to take a tape measure to them, there is a visible difference in the size.
My orthopedist says that's one way he can tell the truly chronically disabled patients from the fakers. Someone faking a disability will walk with a cane or use a chair when they go to the doctor, but enjoy themselves on their own time. That means that both legs stay healthy. Those of us with real disabilitys use the cans, crutches, walkers or wheelchairs all the time and our legs begin to suffer the consequences.
At this point I have to check my flashes before I put them on. Why? Because the ones that use clasps all have the little adjustment buckles. And the flash for my left leg is adjusted to a much shorter length than the one for my right leg. If I get them switched, my right leg will turn blue and my left leg will have the flash fall off!
I could seriously use some padding on the left side. Maybe I can get a plastic surgeon to move some of the extra padding on my behind down to my bad leg?
