I've got to lose a bunch more so that I can afford to cheat a bit when the Santa Rosa plums and the white peaches in my yard finally ripen this summer! Having ripe fruit falling off the tree because you can't give it away fast enough is really depressing!

Fresh fruit shouldn't be considered cheating, unless of course you bake it into a pie or cobbler.:rolleyes:

Peach Cobbler Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
* 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
* 3/4 cup sugar
* 3/4 cup milk
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1 cup self-rising flour
* 2 cups fresh sliced peaches
PREPARATION:
Melt butter in a shallow 2-quart baking dish. Mix together flour, sugar, and milk to make a batter; pour over the hot melted butter. Do not stir. Arrange peaches evenly over the top. Bake at 375 to 400° for about 40 to 50 minutes, or until top is nicely browned.
ITS A KILT, G** D*** IT!

It isn't 'fattening' unless you actually eat it. You can look all you like.
If you eat it as part of the 8000 calories per day you need to maintain the level of activity your lifestyle dictates then you won't put on weight either.
I'm just trying to decide if I am going to eat cold cooked turkey with a green salad or fry up some bacon, mushrooms and peppers.
At least Atkins is easy. There is always something you can eat.

Well, this week was going fine 'til I went out to El Torito for dinner Saturday night. I was going to get the Fajita Supreme, and just eat all the meat - chicken, steak, and shrimp - but when they brought out the chips and salsa, my will-power vanished! I look at chips as a vehicle to scoop in the salsa, but since I went through three small bowls of salsa...
They had a new margarita that I had to try - had two of 'em...
At least I stayed away from the stack of tortillas, and the rice and beans. :rolleyes:
Bottom line: I had dropped to 223 at one point during the week, but as of this morning, I've back-tracked to 225. I'll do better this week.

Don't think of it as getting off track. Think of it as giving yourself a well deserved reward. Now get back up on that horse!

Well, that was last week; this week I'm back down to that 223. The good news is that I've been fitting into my size 36 shorts again - six weeks ago, I couldn't get the button within 2" of the button hole! Good thing my kilts have a lot of leeway. My UKs were mostly bought at the lower end of my swing last time, so more of them are getting close to fitting now (still got a ways to go for that 36" workman though). Haven't tried the pants yet; what the point? we're in the 70's & 80's now!
