OK Al, do not remind me what I have been putting off for many months of what needs to be done at my place.

    Good luck on the project!

Arrghhh. I love the finished product but I HATE going through the remodeling process. Good luck to you and be sure to show us the finished product.

    Update...
The walls have been painted, now we have to go shopping for the new trim, baseboards, etc. It will be painted off-white and installed tomorrow. Should be fun, I've never done that type of work before.
Btw...yes, that divide is level. I had the camera tilted a bit when I took the shot. D'oh!

    Day 5...

Window casings and chair rails are painted and installed. They really help take some of the brightness away from the two-tone green walls. LOL

Today I start on the new laminate floors. Not really looking forward to it, but it has to be done.

its posts like this that make me glad i dont have a house - i would be spending all my time doing projects like this that i wouldnt have time for kilting!!!

nice work al - loving the progress pics!!! I put down a laminate floor in my apartment a while back (I have a cheap rat b(*&^)(*d landlord who refused to get rid of skanky deep green wall to wall carpet that was several years past its prime). not a fun job but not too difficult & well worth it in the end

    ITS A KILT, G** D*** IT!

Hehe...I know what you mean! One little project can snowball until the entire house is under reconstruction! To make up for my lack of kilting this week, my wife and I are going shopping today for new drapes, furnace outlet vents, and other such necessities for renovations. Everything needs to be changed as we're trying to keep a Celtic theme going in the room. I will be kilted, of course. Gotta give the shopkeepers a bit of a thrill, eh? Besides, it's cold and snowing today (crazy, since it was sunny and 22C yesterday!!) so we can't work on the floor. I do all the cuts outside to keep the harmful sawdust out of the house.

The laminate floor almost drove me to thoughts of suicide last night. We got the first 5 rows laid down, and it wasn't without problems. You have to realize that I'm a hotrodder and biker type, I'm used to working with steel. Carpentry is new to me. It's been quite enlightening, that's for sure. For one thing, I discovered that try as you might, you just can't weld wood! All it does is smoke around the edges and crumble. Not sure what that's all about, have to do some more research.

Here's a shot of the first portion of flooring...

    Alan,

It's really lookin' good... This coming week is going to be a week where I give up my kilts... Going to be swapping all the good parts from my old car to my new one. Including the engine and transmission... Should be fun.
