			Kilted in another classroom...

As many of you know, I wear a kilt in the classroom almost every day - but today, a friend who teaches interpersonal communication asked me to step into his classroom - since they had just discussed clothing as a form of non-verbal communication - my wearing a kilt might drive the lesson home. So-at the appointed time I walked in and he introduced me.
We had a great conversation about the effect of clothes on perception. One student told me "I've seen you on campus and I thought that you must be important because your kilt makes you look that way." then she added "I wonder if someone much younger could wear a kilt without getting ribbed by their buddies." A very perceptive young woman - ok the "much younger" part stung a bit - but I got over that.

Of course the conversation quickly turned to kilts in general, surprisingly no one asked "the question." The first fact I shared with the class was the BIG secret... women LOVE men in kilts. The guys looked surprised, the girls just smiled... With that fact in hand, I shared the worlds shortest history of the kilt - from the highlands and the belted plaid to the Battle of Culloden, the Act of Proscription, Wilson's pattern book, and finally - kilts in the 21st century... not bad for my 15 minues of fame

So I want to send out a BIG thank you to all the members of this board. I put on my first kilt shortly before New Years day. Because to the amazing collective knowledge, wisdom, and support here I could share a bit of kilted goodness with others.

That is great. I'm really glad you were able to enjoy your well-earned fame, and spread the joy of kilting a little farther.
Now let's see who else we can thrust into the spotlight of greatness, if not for a few moments!

					Phil,
Great experience, and I thought the original "love ME in kilts" was just you being realistic in sharing your experience!

What a great story Phil. I especially liked the makes you look important part. I'm sure age had nothing to do with it. But did you really make a typo? Seems to me Herr Freud had something to say about that! Let's get together soon.
