A model without all the jewels might be fine for that, Brian. Good call.

I won't get one, though. The one I wear with my PC outfit is far enough over the top!

The primary problem I can see with a regular dirk for daywear is that most of them have 10"-12" blades - this is a bit larger than I've found useful for any modern knife unless you're planning on using it for combat purposes.

That said, some of the best I've ever seen that would work for "plain day-wear" dirks are made by Kirby Wise: Kirby's Dirks

    His entire website is http://www.kirbywise.com

Kirby does great work. I've admired his stuff for years! My dirk is by Glenn McClain:

I mostly wear it at reenactments, where it has sliced bread and meat, cut rope and leather, chopped veggies, and opened the occasional beer bottle! I wouldn't hesitate to wear it with my modern daywear get-up, especially with a brown belt and sporran....

    VERY nice!

Kirby, McClain, and Michael "Tinker" Pearce all do fantastic work.

I just don't recommend Tinker's work for every-day wear. He costs a bit more than Kirby...
