A number of vendors are now offering "Irish clan badges", which mimic the Scottish badge, except the crest is inside a cladagh ring.

Since I like to support the Scottish Tartans Museum, I will include a link to their online gift shop -- The Collins badge is available, although no picture:

You can get an idea of what these badges look like, and maybe Matt could send a picture of the badge.

However, I would give this warning: The Collins "crest" may or may not be the same as the one you describe, since the Irish clan system is not identical to the Scottish one. The maker may have simply picked a coat-of-arms that belonged to someone named Collins, and then used it for the badge.

The whole issue of Irish clans has been a contreversial one recently, given the McCarthy Mor Hoax and the recognition of some dubious claims by the Irish Goverment.

But, that aside, you may be one step closer to finding the Colllins's crest badge! :mrgreen:
