How large of a bead are you looking for? 20mm, 30mm, etc? How large of a tassel are you going to be putting them on?

I haven't decided quite yet, but I was thinking 12 - 20 mm.
If I use round beads - no tassel.
Only a tassel if I use cones....

This site has some unique large silver beads made by the Karen Hill Tribes in Burma and Thailand (got to support the Thai economy!)

This is a celtic bead about 1/2" in diameter, but I couldn't find the hole diameter.

Yet again. . .
this site has the largest plain round silver bead I could find. Let me know what size you are looking for and in what shape. I can find cheap silver in all shapes and sizes here in Turkey, and would be willing to keep my eyes open if you can't find anything back home.

I think I like these although I wish they were just a hair thicker.

I keep a similar but non-metallic bead in my tinderbox - it's a miniature blow-pipe to get the flame going after you've gotten a spark.
Most places call them "hair beads," and a good bead shop will carry all sorts.
Given the craze of decorating bloody everything with beads over the last decade, there should be a bead shop somewhere near you.
