I was going to say: when you take an enemy's head you put it on a pole in your front yard not on a belt around your waist.

I don't know about Ghillie Brogues. There is an old thread about a fellow who was told by some kilted men that if he was going to dress like a girl, he should go sit with the girls. As I recall, his sin was wearing white hose with shoes laced around the ankles. (It is conceivable that I am misinterpreting).

How big a sin is it to wear good quality black shoes without lacing them around the ankles?
I like ghillie brogues. Maybe I'll be skewered for saying it, but I do. 'Course, I also like spats, monocles, and double breasted vests, so it may just be me. I don't like the buckled shoes like gent in the last picture is wearing, they remind me to much of Mary Janes.

    Gents,

That the Chief of the Clan Sinclair, Malcolm Sinclair, the Earl of Caithness. He's also patron of the Caledonian Society of Norway.

His footwear, by the way, are very proper for Scottish evening attire. I've seen several gents over the years that wear them, and look very sharp.

    I personally like his outfit.

I'm going to have to second that.

I don't really like waistcoats in general, but it works with the velvet jacket he's wearing.

Take a look at the picture on Matt Newsome's site:

    http://www.albanach.org/

The Sinclair is in good company in regards to hair sporrans and tartan waistcoats!

I think it is less the clothing than the particular image. It just looks a bit off to me. I won't fault the guy for wearing hit tartan proudly. More of a personal taste thing. I'm more apt to wear a black waistcoat and jacket.

the sporran, though it may be properly worn, does look a bit like Cousin It.

whit ai see wrang here is this-

    1. the colour o his sporran doesnae match anything else he's wearing...

    2. those lang hair sporrans look tae big unless you hae the full Piper regalia oan tae balance the scale...

    3. the matching waistcoat makes the kilt look like it's huge... tartan waistcoats shuid no be the exact same tartan and set as the kilt... there needs tae be a differentation between the kilt and the waistcoat...

    4. the velvet jacket is gaping open awfy wide.... it looks ill-tailored arr tae small...

    5. the hose and shoes look fine... nice, in fact....
