The Sinclair is in good company in regards to hair sporrans and tartan waistcoats!
But the tartan on Matt's waistcoat is on the diagonal, whch sets it apart from the kilt. Not so on the Sinclair's waistcoat.

Taste is, of course, a most personal thing. My wife likes to wear flowery skirts and blouses. I think she would look better with a flowery blouse and plain skirt or plain blouse and flowery skirt. Here's the thing: she dresses like her mother. It is how she was brought up and what looks good to her. Now my mother would always do a plain/flowery combination, so we know where my taste originates.

To my 43 year old New World eye, the Earl's attire might be a bit much. But he is the Sinclair, so I have no business arguing with him. If there is a right way and a wrong way to wear the garb, he is in a better postition than I to know what it is. But my waistcoat will be navy or black.
