Robert (Canuck) at Rkilts makes a great braided leather sporran strap, I have a black one and I really like it.

I saw some dog leads, hand made, tubular woven leather, and the thoght came to me that the loops of two of them could be interlinked and the clips attached to a sporan - there were even small medium and large versions.

They were rather nice - and if I wore a sporran I am sure I would have bought some.

These were the 'top of the range' all leather ones, very well made, very glossy and complete with creaks and the smell of new leather.

However, I think that a flat woven strap would be smarter, the tubular ones did look slightly bulky.

I've made several with what's called a mystery braid. Here's one that Iolaus made and posted.
