Hello BW82 and welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll have a great time here. With regard to wearing your Cilt/Kilt in London .. I have worn mine there loads of times and have NEVER experienced any problems. Heres a piccy with the mrs and my mother taken in Covent Garden last year. In point of fact Covent Garden might be the place to head for first if you feel a bit unsure .. so many arty people about .. no one will notice you. Just go for it!

Welcome from Utah and if a person can wear a kilt in Utah you should have no problem in London depending on what yahoos pub you visit.

Welcome to xmarks - you'll find it's the best community. In upstate NY, USA I get the Scottish questions sometimes but explain that I'm of Irish descent and all of that area shares a great deal of heritage. The other question I get more than expected is whether or not I play for one of the local pipe bands.

Welcome to XMarks from anothyer UK-er. I live in the North East and everybody I meet loves the kilt. I wear mine every evening and all of every weekend. I would encoursage you to "go for it" - you will be surprised how positive the comments will be, and how great you will feel.

    Thumbs up

Welcome from downunder. Dont be afraid to wear your kilt out in public. For the first time you maybe a little apprehensive, but walk tall and be proud of your kilt. You will find that people are a lot more accepting if you show confidence. As to any strange comments, just smile and keep walking [thats what i do ]Wearing the kilt in your own neighbourhood, do it. People will get used to seeing you kilted and wont think twice. To quote Pour1Malt "dinnae be afeart-and wear yur kilt proud!"

I wear the kilt in public down here in Texas and I ain't been lynched yet. Why just this morning I'm sure I had the neighbors rolling in their pickup truck watching a kilted man chasing wild pigs out of the pasture. Go for it and welcome.
