Camouflage Kilts...

My second kilt was a Nightwatch Camo Utilitkilt, I love it and outside of winter wear it often. The only people that think it is daft also don't get wearing a kilt anyway.

There is a kilt length of DPM on the pile waiting for further attention here.

The only reason I have not already got a camo kilt was the price of the material - this kilt was born to be curtains - but was bought on eBay for 6 UK pounds including the postage (shipping) unpicked and divided into 4 lengths which will make up into a good kilt.

I plan to wear it with khaki tee shirt and bush hat in the summer.

It is not yet May and I am finding that a 50 percent wool kilt is too hot. I'm going to have to mothball the heavier kilts until the temperature goes down.

Luckily I have begun resurecting the light cotton kilts I wore last year so I will have something to wear until I can sew up some new ones. They are looking rather weathered, but it is amazing what a spray of starch and a careful ironing can do to the look of a light cotton kilt.

love it - rarely get negative comments- when paired with a heavy sweater & combat boots & thick black socks i think i intimidate people too much to say anything bad...

The first problem is that camouflage material is directional and kilts are long peices of cloth. This results in the pattern being 90 degrees off. The first kilt that I made was in "6-Color Desert" so I had to do the front apron sideways for the pattern to come out correct. Which necessitated putting a hem on it which to look right had to go all the way arround.

The second problem is the material itself mostly you have either a light canvas or a rip-stop poplin neither looks right, not even close to the way a kilt is supposed to hang and swing.

May I suggest that if you want "the look" of commo you go with Black Watch, Nightstalker or a hunting tartan.

I don't have any problems with them, but I also do not have one even though it is sommewhere on my list to get.
