Well, thanks largely to this thread, I've decided to see if I can grow the rest of my facial hair out. I'd already gone a couple days without shaving, so I just decided to let it keep going. Thinned out the goatee to get it closer to the rest, and we'll see what happens

let it go...the worst thing that can happen is your chin isn't cold in the winter...and by starting now you should be nice and toasty!

Well, bubba, I guess she and I feel differently. And yeah- it's your (and my) hair, but it would just look a little... funny, I guess, until you got used to it.

(Now, I wonder if the fellas on this thread would feel the same way about armpit and leg hair... lol)

Personally, I think men or women can do whatever they want with whatever hair they have. However, I will admit that I certainly have preferences. For instance, I like longer hair on women, but I wouldn't try to impose my preferences on anyone. Now, if they asked my OPINION, I would tell them, but that's all it would be is an opinion.

I'm a little late here, but here goes anyway. I'm only 26 but have had a beard of some sort (goateee, fumanchu,etc...) since before high school. Started shaving at 12 or 13 and have detested it ever since. It tears my face up for bout three days so two years ago I went with the full beard and havent looked back.

I got one of those "technicolor" beards. Inside its a dark brown with a slight reddish tint, but I walk outside and its a flame red color, go figure<shrug>. I did and do trim it to three inches long during the summer and let it go wild during the winter. Its a great feeling when the wind blows the beard around. I especially enjoy it when out waiting for a deer in the cold, windy PA woods.

BTW, I also find that a shampoo with conditioner works really well to keep the beard nice n shiny/soft. Works alot better than soap which will make your face dry out and itch somthin fierce.

I, like you, have a technicolor beard. I also have the same thing going on with my head hair. In the shade, everything looks brown with a little bit of gold mixed in. As soon as the sun hits it, everything turns red. I started shaving when I was 15. Stopped when I was 20. Have had a beard for 10 years and for the past 5 years, I've mostly had long hair. Sometimes have been required to cut it, but it grows back. Just takes a while for the head hair to get from 2" to 18" long.

I'm getting that multicolored effect in my moustache too. I've got black, red, white and now blonde showing up.

I've got more the salt and pepper look, in both my hair (what's left) and my whiskers, although it seems there's more salt all the time.:confused:

I actually don't mind the gray hairs TOO much. At least those little suckers are holding on.

With all the talk about multi-coloured beards, mine is somewhat interesting as well. As a child I had very light blonde hair. As I progressed into my mid 20's my hair started to darken...it's a fairly dark brown now. On the plus side I turn 43 in June and there's almost no grey in it, yet. LOL

My moustache and goatee, however, are black, with a number of grey hairs coming in. I don't mind the grey as it adds a bit of character. I have a youthful looking face, and one of the reasons I have the face-fuzz is so I don't pass for my 22-y/o daughter's brother. The grey helps add a bit of age to the look.

I have had a mustache since I was 17 till i was out of the Corps, then I grew
a full beard had it for 2 yrs then cut and had a 18" Poncho Via style a while then grew my Van Dyke to 20" , then back to full beard. Now i have mustache with that little triangle patch under the bottom lip.

As for my razor I have used a strait razor for the past 7 yrs.

And for all you who have women that say it feels like a brillow pad I suggest letting it grow to at least 1" then it's softer..My lady friend some times giggles when I kiss her navel or neck cuz she say's it tickels.

Nope, mine doesn't get softer. It stays stiff and wirey regardless of how long it gets.
