Field Testing the USA Kilt Casual

Wore my new MacLean Hunting casual to work for the first time last Wednesday, then again Thursday for the drive across the Navajo and Hopi Reservations and New Mexico to the Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque. Then wore it again today for the drive back. So that's three days of "testing," one at work and two at play.

Only things I noticed at work were how the underapron drops down between my legs and conceals the boys from anyone who might be looking up my ol' address (clients sometimes drag their kids into therapy with them).

I wore my Freelander sporran with it and noticed that when seated sometimes the antler weighted cords hanging from the Freelander made the kilt apron lay funny if they slipped past the hem. Not a fault of either the kilt or the sporran, just something to be aware of.

Also, was using my Craigie sporran strap with the fuzzy inside to protect the kilt. Was in a hurry to put on the kilt and left some of the hook side of the velcro exposed on the waist and when the two met they locked. No one's fault again. Just something to be aware of when dressing.

Sat on the kilt for hours on rough 4x4 back rez roads and there was some light creasing at the end of the day. No where near what I'd expected. Next morning just hung it in the motel bathroom while I showered and the creases dropped right out. That was easy.

It was VERY windy out on the rez's and in Albuquerque, but never had a problem keeping the kilt down. Did use a pewter kilt pin.

I wore an J'Dez underkilt with the casual on the way out - it was cold. By the time we came back it was warm and just wore the kilt. The thing is so lightweight I felt positively nekie...very cool.

I wore a couple tanks to the Gathering. This morning when it came time to get dressed I was putting on the casual by stepping into it like I do my tanks...then realized I could just pull it open and wrap it around...duh...a lot less hassle than climbing into a tank.

Bottom line, I'm very pleased. Put a pic on the rez on the picture forum.

Thanks for the field test report, I'm thinking the USA Casual might have to be my next purchase.
