See!... I KNEW it was the socks. This is the photographer's reply to my email:

First, thanks for tracking me down. And, thanks for being a good sport! I am not sure that Russ at the MacKay tent may have been able to get over was that I was the entire jury of one, and your kilt alone would not have gotten you into the Top Ten. The deciding factor was the tube socks with stripes and hiking boots. I had a lot of fun with this project, and it started about 2 years ago, when someone walked by and I looked and uttered: "What WAS he thinking!" The next thought was the poster. I am at the Scottish American Military Society tent at almost all the games, and if you bring your poster by, will be glad to "personalize" it for you. Of course, now, all my friends and some strangers are pointing out the "contestants" for Bad Kilts II. That will have to wait and see if BKI goes over well.

Now I HAVE to go to the Pleasanton, California games.

If you started to jump up and down in that kilt, you might cause small children to have a seizure. (I keeid, i keeid)

Actually though it is an interesting kilt

Sheesh, it's kilts like that that make traditionalists STAY that way! From one Sherry to another, she's right!

Hey, c'mon,... she said it was not the kilt, but the socks, that was the deciding factor.

What is a traditionalist? In my observations, he or she is one who has picked a certain time frame or chosen a certain "look" and decides to stay in that particular niche; it defines his or her "persona." We pick our traditions, much like we pick our professions.

Let's see... there is the traditional great kilt, the traditional little kilt, the traditional hunting (read: early camo) tartans, the traditional tailored kilt (in knife, box, kinguisse, mil box, etc.), the traditional Utilikilt, the new tradition of "high fashion" kilts, the traditional ceremonial dress of the native americans of the southwest, and on and on. Which tradition do we choose today? tomorrow?

Whew! How's that for a sudden shift from playfulness to brain-deadening philosophy?
