Dress sporran from Pakistan
I know, I know but for the price and the fact that I probably won't wear it often I couldn't justify the cost of a more expensive sporran.
Here's the link:

Delivery was rather slow if the sporran shipped from the Middlesex (which correspondence says it did), but if it came from Pakistan which the package shows I guess a little over two weeks would be reasonable. The sporran was in a hanging display plastic bag which was in a cardboard box which was sewn into a linen wrapping (very interesting to see). The seller marked the package as a free sample to avoid excess tax I suppose (good thinking). Everything arrived in fine condition.
The sporran looks better than I expected it to. The cantle was free of blemish, which is good because this was what I was actually buying. I'll put it on the sporran I make later.
The "fur" is fake of course. For $30 bucks I didn't expect much. But when I strip it down I can use the fur as a pattern for the real deal. But it appears to be stitched together well and the tassles look fine and have good triangle arrangement to them.
It came with the standard chain/leather belt, not sure if I'll wear that to the wedding or not.
The inside looks roomy enough for a wallet and keys.
For $30 to have a sporran to meet my immediate need and provide a cantle and pattern for a later sporran I think I got a good deal. Guys on a budget will do OK going this route with the understanding you are getting a $30 sporran but it is the same cantle you will find on some of the high priced sporrans.

When you sake "fake" do you mean synthetic and not dead animal?

I think I ordered the same one only in white fur for my wedding sporran and, really, no one was the wiser. I haven't worn it since and while the cantle could definitely be replaced at some point, the "fur" is quite serviceable.

Looks like a great fill-in until you get your's made. Thanks for the review!

Good point Andy, Synthetic is the correct word. Although this fur is more silky than real rabbit it wold be hard for most people to tell it's not real.
I prefer the less shaggy look (like the seal skin or goat sporrans) so i will try and duplicate that with skins from tandy or ebay.

Thnaks. I looked on the web site and some of the sporrans it says "rabbit" and some "faux". I actually want a faux fur dress sporran, so this might be the way to go.

I'm with you on that one....
What about getting out the clippers and giving it a shave???

I'll have to agree with you as well. Although they look great with a PC outfit, I'm not too partial to wearing a fur coat on my sporran chain. I much prefer the look of goat or other such beasts...

I bought the same one in white and wore it last night. I actually got a couple of compliments on how well it went with my kilt. I had room for my wallet, keys and a small digital camera without it looking bulky or being uncomfortable. Even though I was ready to tell any naysayer that it was Faux fur, nobody asked me about the fur. It's a little bit fuzzy and I had to do some lint brushing when I was done but it's silky and hangs pretty well. I paid a little bit more for mine but it's still better than over $200 for a classic rabbit sporran.

I e-mailed the company on on eBay. They assured me that when it says "rabbit fur" it is real and when it says "Artificial Rabbit fur" it is artificial. From the eBay pictures there doesn't seem to be any difference. Those who know about these things, how would you tell the difference?
