    Yes, the kilt could be worn more often in Scotland if cheap non-wool kilts like the small but splendid batch of acryllic kilts which Union Kilts recently issued become more readily available. The acryllic kilt looks convincing as a real kilt; all it needs is leather for the straps. But I can't see the lightweight polycotton kilts catching on, as although I do occasionally wear them casually because they are very comfortable (no scratchy wool - and I'm already conditioned to wearing lightweight polycotton trousers,) IMHO the polycotton kilts don't look quite right as they are too light and so they don't swing correctly. They are too much like old fashioned schoolgirl kilted skirts rather than proper kilts for the mainstream male population to want to wear them.
