Well, dang....
Man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, but gonna miss you.
Whenever I wanna get whacked or flamed I just post on another board. Like it here the way it is.
Good luck.

It's not just about whacking or flaming. It's about being able to discuss really important issues.
There are social issues, gender-politics issues, legal issues, and rights issues among others that affect us as daily kilt-wearers and we can't discuss those issues here.
Discussions about matching kilt hose to shirts are great, but I'm more interested in whether it's socially, politically, culturally, legally safe for men to wear kilts when and where we want to.
That puts me at odds with this forum's policies (and the sensibilities of many, if not most of this forum's participants) and so I have to move on.

Best of luck to you then - I hope you continue to enjoy your kilted life.

Well, maybe I am a bit more hard nosed than some, but if you're leaving, leave already. Don't post a thread notifying the world that you are leaving, then keep checking back on said post to see how many people are going to miss you and wanting to know why you are leaving. That is just childish and trying to call attention to yourelf.

... hey... what carajo is hapening here?
sorry to say but......this seems someway disappointing to me,... never wanted to see a mate leaving this thread, but I'd accept the reasons for it... what is difficult to understand is the feeling that this post reflects!...If some day I decide to leave a club or even the company I work for,... I'd love to have the chance to farewell my friends, whatever it may be the reason for leaving... I simply can't see nothing negative on that... maybe I am also childish for thinking that way?,...
I agree with the usual line of moderator's work, but I couldn't get the way this one expressed so easily,... sorry to say!
¡Salud!

Just go on over to Kiltmen.com to the Braveheart's Kilt Forum ... no moderator, no holds barred, intense discussion on all the issues you mentioned and more.
I've only seen one thread deleted and it had gotten so personal and ugly that even I had to agree it was time to kill it. Otherwise, as long as there can be some kind of dotted line to connect your topic with kilts or other mens' skirted garments, there is nothing sacred there.
Good luck,
Chris Webb

What's going on here?
Not to diminish the situation, but are the planets out of allignment or something? In the past week we've had some strange (and to my limited history on this forum) unusual series of events and postings on XMarks.
Maybe some of you "old times" here have gone through this before, but I've been concerned at the "tone" we're finding lately. In order to keep down discord and potential bad behavior, the moderators have been quite judicious in their cuttings and locking of threads, until one moderator feels he has a personal investment in the topic and allows it reach a rolling boil, but removes at least one posting which he felt was a "personal attack." Now we have a member announcing that he is leaving, with no appearant reason, only to find that he claims his posts have been deleted and a senior member of the forum basically saying, "don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out."
Maybe it's just me, but I've felt an absence of some other regulars lately and I'm wondering if this is sign of something else going on here. Don't get me wrong, I've tried to be a defender of the moderators and the policies and wanted to keep this forum (more or less) on topic and let "good fellowship" prevail.
I just hope we can all (the Grand Poo-bah's included) consider how this sort of policing can have it's down side. I wonder whether a bit of flaming is any worse that no "spice" at all and the lingering suspicion that maybe we're not really getting the whole picture.

I gotta say, I understand his feelings; I've felt rather constrained lately as well. There have been many times I've wanted to answer something of a non-kilt nature, but knew I'd be starting something that would shut the thread down - I did it on accident this morning; instead, I usually bite my tongue and watch a bunch of people chime in about "what a good point," or "that's how I feel," which leads to anyone else reading it thinking that they're reading a consensus, and they're not, but I can't say so. It gets pretty frustrating sometimes.
KCW said "If we all agreed, it would be a pretty boring world," but sometimes it seems like any time we disagree over anything more important that the length of a kilt, we get "moderated."
