    Could we get an idea of the etymology of the term "chav"?

    I get "ned" as "non-educated delinquent" but whither "chav"?

    Are these obnoxious "lower class/working class" types or obnoxious "middle class" yuppie types (you know....very well developed sense of entitlement)?

    Either way I can empathize.

    I wouldn't define a Chav as either working class or middle class, If you can imagine a class lower than working class (cos most chavs are on benefits and don't even have jobs)
