I never said that a good kiltmaker wouldn't use three straps. I said that I'm of the opinion that the original third strap was added to compensate by a poor tailor.
That good tailors continue to emulate this is of no import to the opinion.

I think the 2 vs 3 strap thing has come up before. Best I can recall the 3rd strap is derived from the high rise military kilts. Being much more rise they used 2 straps on the right to hold the waist and hip in proper position.

HRH always looks good when kilted. And I'd like to point out his incredibly elegant walking stick as well. I wish I had one of those, but the good ones are so pricey.
It's sad that his sons don't wear kilts, but maybe they'll come to their senses as they grow older.

And what's with that gold lamet (spelling on that?) sporran?!?!?! Not only is he terrifying, but it looks like a stole a drag queen's purse and is using it for his outfit! Actually, that does look like a missing friend's purse. I'll have to tell him where he can find it!

On second thoughts he looks like the guy from one of the first scenes in Pluto Nash

Was this picture taken in Scotland or the US? I notice quite a few "baseball" caps, which are commonly worn in the US but which I have seen much disparaged by kilt police for being worn with kilts.

DO accept kilts as gifts from the royal family...
