    CD Cover

I am recording a solo cd at present and this looks like the piccy that will be used on the front cover and the back cover. You can just see the back of our cottage on the second. The weather is glorious here today, hope its the same for everyone else.

It's a shame that the glasses obscure the eyes, there is always something about seeing someone's eyes that makes a face more approachable, in a sense not having anything to hide, making the whole appearance more friendly.

I would almost switch the images. Use the picture of yourself as the back of the CD cover. The front will than be the church yet will be a bit more simplified and leave room for a title. Having the photo of yourself in the back is like the author bio for a book. The credits always go in the back, and the photo of yourself is an intro and a credit to the music.

    Just my two bits.

Nice looking pics, and I will agree that the second picture would be a great way to get people to pick up the CD and then turn it over to see who made it. Of course, usually on the back of a CD case is the listing of songs and credits, so that might not work either.

But the picture of Derek is a bit narrower, leaving room for a little black box on the other side to list the songs, credits, etc on.

I think the shot of Derek is the wrong format for a cd cover being long and thin . However put a suitable celtic inspired boarder around it Then it would square if off a little. The Church photo would be best done slightly transpearant with the song list over try to use the empty sky area ....Just my 5p Derek.

You didn't say if you were doing the cover yourself. There's plenty of phot programs out there that could do a fine job.

...and don't forget...when shooting for an album (oh, those were the days! twelve glorious inches on a side!) or a CD...think square!

Hipgnosis...the folks who produced the artwork for Pink Floyd's best stuff and that of many others started off with two guys, a drawing board and a Hasselblad (6X6 cm square format)...please see the book "Walk Away Rene: the Art of Hipgnosis" for more details.

Best of luck on the CD...I assume that you will let us know when it's available and will be happy to ship internationally?

    Best
