Ghillie laces?

I've well defined calfs. The laces don't go around that much. I've noticed the thicker the hose the less likely they fall.

My method

Pull the laces tight do the first part of a bow like when you tie normal laces.

Take the laces one in each hand and pass from hand to hand 6 times this makes the twist

Pass around the leg and tie a normal bow on the outside of the leg Not in Front the side looks better but there's no rule

I've seen people use hairspray on their hose if they have to walk or march a lot . However I have yet to try this as I don't usually get this problem

I don't own a pair yet....but I've been told...pull laces tight and make 6 twist for the front (twist..twist laces over each otherl ike rope), wrap lace around to back of leg , make another 3 twist,around to front and tie.....I was told pipers and band marchers will tie on the side of the leg under the flashes.....just for flash....so the frilly end swings more....LOL

I tie mine at the side, but many pipebands tie them at the front, in a band you simly tie them the way the pipe major says (without quibble)

The way dear old dad taught me was to pull the laces and snug up the brogue. Then do 3 twist, pass the laces around the back of your leg and cross them, bring them back around to the front and tie them with a normal bow knot. Tassled ends should hang a bit.

I have fairly thick calves and no matter how tight I tied my gillie laces they had always fallen down around my ankles by the end of the night. Now I pull them tight, cross and twist them four times, then take them twice around the top of my ankle and tie them off. They stay in place and I think look good. Some people can look a bit silly with them wrapped around their legs almost to the knee !
