There are two kilts in my closet when not on me. A five yard Morrison green for light duty, and an eight yard Morrison red ancient. My wife, Carol, has a nice McLean hunting that she found at a local thrift store. Her heritage is German-Japanese (yikes!), but I swore her in as an honorary fellow Ulster-Scot so she gets to wear whatever tartan she likes (like I could stop her).
Anyway, thanks for running this board and I look forward to getting to know the place.
Thank you,

Scott, are you a Morrison? I have some cousins that are. Good to see some of the family being represented out in the kilted community.

Yes, Gilmore is sept of clan Morrison. In fact, "Morrison" is, I have read, an Anglicized version of the name Gilmore, which is from the Gaelic "Ghille Moire."
My father's people were Ulster Scots though, who emmigrated to America probably from County Down. They settled in western Pennsylvania, mostly in and around Pittsburgh, where I was born.
Clan Morrison - a minor, but proud clan - has been quite active in recent years investigating Dun Éistean, once the clan fortress at the northern tip of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides.
There have been a few famous Morrisons though. Probably the most famous would be Marion Morrison (a.k.a. John Wayne), and more recently Adam Morrison. A little closer to home, Viscount Dunrossil (a.k.a. Andrew Morrison), who I think is now living in Austin, Texas, is a regular poster over at the Tartans.com forum.
There have been a few notorious Gilmores (don't even mention "Happy Gilmore" or "Gilmore Girls" please). But we'll leave that to another post.
Thank you,
Scott Gilmore

Welcome Scott. Do you live in San Diego proper or one of the outlying cities?

I'm right smack-dab in the middle of the Uptown District. When I've had a dram or three I could - were I so inclined to do so - pee on the footbridge over Washington street (just a couple of hundred feet away - nothing to it).
On a typical Saturday, Mrs. Gilmore and I urban-hike through the Banker's Hill distraict into downtown. If the weather is kind (so, on about 364 days of any given year) we'll take the ferry over to Coronado Island - her birthplace.
Life's tough sometimes. Shucks.
Thank you,
Scott Gilmore
