Trip to the museum... and the mall
For Mother's Day, my wife decided to make good on a promise she had made to our boys. She had decided that we would go, as a family to the Bishop Museum here in Honolulu. I decided to go kilted. Wore my plaid kilt with my Summit racing t-shirt and some red and silver running shoes.
The Bishop Museum is a bit of a tourist trap, so there were plenty of tourists checking me out. Not a single negative comment at all.
The best part of the museum trip was when we went through the "tube" where the lighting came via some black lights. How'd that look? Something like this here.
Also, today, we went to the mall in hopes of finding myself a 3" wide belt for my kilts. As we proceeded through the mall to Hot Topic (I expected them to be the most likely place to find one) the looks were plentiful. In Hot Topic, all eyes were on me. Everyone loved the kilt, even though I wasn't as dark and gothic looking as most of what is found in Hot Topic. I even got a free sticker (nothing special at all) just for wearing a kilt. It was even the on shift manager that gave it to me! Never did find a belt... except at Sears, but I figured a 3" wide Craftsman workbelt (with a VERY obvious "Craftsman Professional" logo emblazened right near the buckle) was a bit too tacky.
Then we went to Home Depot for some painting supplies... many looks... and one "I wish my husband would wear kilts" from the cashier.
I love going out in public clad in kilt! I can't wait till it lands me with free alkyhol!!!
