Ron is actually the ONLY ex Mil Coll guy I've ever heard say he was never cut out to be an Officer. Everyone else made lame excuses. To me, this shows his real strength. I served over, and under, guys with considerably less intestinal fortitude than Ron has shown in his original post.
As an educator for the past 25 years I've seen every possible variation on this theme, most not as happy an ending as yours. Congratulations to you for sticking it out.

Congrats, Ron. And hey, if I'm not mistaken the Royal Roads had a band called the Castle Gary Pipe and Drums Band. It just so happens that I picked up one of the band kilts on Ebay some time ago. A 13 oz. wool eight yarder in the Fraser Tartan pleated to the stripe. After some fairly extensive alterations (it had been sized down to a 28 inch waist from about a 32) I wore it out last night for the first time. Nice. I only regret having lost the auction for the matching glengarry and kilt belt.
