I'm very sorry to hear of the passing of your second dog so soon. I've been in your position more times than I can to remember. My condolences.

Sorry this had to happen. But do remember all the good things, and fun things the dogs did! I am sure you will have stories to tell for years!

Derek, truly they are our best friends. They bring so much joy, and then so much sadness when we lose them. May you know peace again.

Pets are family you choose. There's nothing quite like that bond you forge with them. Unfortunately, the sadness is in proportion to the joy they brought you. My heart-felt condolences to you and Elaine.

    Derek and Elaine,
I was sad to hear about the loss of Dolly. She was truly a loving member of the family. As difficult as it was for you during her last moments you will always have the memory of knowing you were able to be with her and comfort her as she would have done for you. My Irish Setter and my cat (Ratt) both passed away in my arms and I felt my heart break both times. They are now resting underneath the large fig tree in my back yard. Although it has been a few years I think I see them peeking out from under the fig leaves once in awhile with their goofy faces as if to tell me they are doing fine and thanks for all the good times. My sincere condolences to you both.

My deepest sympathies to you and yours. I hope this gives you some peace, as it has for me in the past.

    The Rainbow Bridge

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

    For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

Peace to you and your home.

My condolences Derek. The passing of our four legged friends is very hard, and the house does feel empty when they are gone.
