There are some very nice piper's hose in 100% cotton. I love them, because they can be washed in the washer (with bleach, for the white ones), and dried in the dryer. And they don't cost much. Here's a link to Tartantown in Canada. These are the ones we have, and I know they're cotton:

The British Shop in New York State also has pipers hose in 3 colors, and I think they're cotton, but you might want to check to make sure:

These are great socks Cotton Solid/Heather Socks: http://www.hamiltondrygoods.com/sock.html and give them a call or email to see what colours they have in stock. I also have some of the Wool socks:

Easy care , the wool and the Cotton Solid/Heather Socks, just throw them in the washer (Gentle Cycle) Streach and hang dry. I would like to get some of his Linsey Woolsey socks to try but not to sure how long they are, any one out there got some?

I don't much about them, but Sport Kilt has kilt hose, their regular kind (not premium), that may not have wool

It would be worth a call or email to them.

Let us know what you find out.

Don't know the SportKilt content either, know there's elastic woven in. Own a LOT of them. They're really soccer sox. They open up and show through when pulled up on my drumsticks, but I wear them pushed down with tennis shoes. They don't shrink in the washer and that's VERY nice.

    Hi,

I'll second Hamilton Dry Goods; good product and fast shipping.

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice but in practice there is.

I bought some two weeks ago. They're ok, but if I roll them up I tend to see my skin underneath and also my leg hair sticks out of the hose-weave...

I wear soccer socks instead of wool hose on a regular basis. I get them at Dicks Sporting Goods.
