    Scottish Tartans Museum staff

Here is a picture of some of the STM staff at the Gatlinburg Games. From l to r, Ronan, Chuck, and our own Matt Newsome! I had a great time chatting with these guys.

And one of Matt by himself:

Who are those funny looking guys?

Seriously, we all had a great time at Gatlinburg. Ronan's been working at the museum for a few years now and does his best to keep me out of trouble. Chuck's a new volunteer with us this year -- he helps visitors find information, works some as a tour guide, and is also a great handyman!

Because I know you guys are interested, Ronan is wearing the Black MacGregor tartan (a personal variant of the MacGregor tartan he had woven up for himself) in a 5 yard box pleated kilt (he's a big guy!). Chuck is wearing the ancient Cockburn tartan, in a 4 yard box pleated kilt. I'm in a green Harris Tweed, and my vest is MacQuarrie, in the reproduction colors. I'm also wearing a hand knit Hummel bonnet (from Betty Johnson, the lady I wrote about some months back in the Scottish Banner), and who was also there at Gatlinburg this weekend).

    Aye,
    Matt

    Matt,

What does it signify? I wondered about it at the Games, but never asked.

    Matt,

that Harris Tweed looks great. I'm becoming a fan of the solid colors more everyday.

I especially like that sporran you're wearing. Where's that from?

The tweed kilts are nice, and I thought the one Matt was wearing was really gorgeous. A very nice color green. I was sorry I did not wear the Donegal tweed kilt I got from him, but I would not have looked as good as Matt did with the vest.

I know that Matt will chime in, but I believe he said that it was a Buzz Kidder Rob Roy style sporran, one of their older models. Chuck is wearing the same one in a slightly different color (and newer).
