I wear replica Civil War and War 2 jackets with kilts. They work for me.

The cut in the front will show the sporran that's for sure. I do think it may be a bit too dated looking, but if it can be modernized it may look very cool.
Does anyone else think the model looks like Elton John gone through a time machine?
Dated? ....I sort of thought that it looked very much like some of the jackets that the Beatles wore in the early sixties. Open a couple of buttons and maybe a jabbot and you'd look like Austin Powers kilted...yeah, baby!
Are you sure the length of those jackets will work with a kilt? Most kilt jackets that I've seen have a body that is shorter than the sleeves, usually by about 1½ or 2 inches. It's hard to tell, but it looks like the jacket bodies pictured - both mentioned above - are about the same length as the sleeves.
