[Mr. Kilt]

I have a black Original that I ordered last year when I was at the UK headquarters in Seattle. Pretty cool kilt, although I tend to wear my tartan kilts more often. Check my website for pics.

AH! Excellent choice! Great pics! That is the very same UK that I am gonna buy! Same model, same color! And a fellow culinary artist, to boot! I don't consider myself a "CHEF", by far! But, I have cooked in American style "country, homestyle" kitchens my family has owned, throughout my life from the age of 16. I've "slung" quite a few beers and pints behind the bar, also.

I think you'll find that everyone here knows about Utilikilts, even if they do not wear them themselves.

Personally, I have eleven of them (most of which can be seen in my photo album - link below). I understand I was probably their first client in The United Kingdom, back in early 2000, and I feature on their website as "Extreme Hamish".

Loyal as I am to Utilikilts and its founder, Steven Villegas (he personally made my very first Workman's UK), I have to admit that I'm not very keen on some of their more recent creations - that ghastly silky, satin 'thing', for example!

I really enjoyed your album. I was wondering if your album is in chronological order ... it seemed your kilts got longer the deeper into the album I went.

I wear my kilts above my knees, an inch or two ... they just seem to be more comfortable and much cooler, but they are also shorter than most fellows wear them on here. Basically I order all my kilts 20 inches long. When working and hiking in SportKilts I often roll down the waste so the kilt is 18 inches long.

What is your opinion on kilt length? Have you purchased longer kilts more recently? If so, why?

Hey Chris. No, the pics aren't in chronological order. The pic looks like it is longer because of the sword I have hanginging in my belt. It weighs my kilt down. That's why I am in the market for a baldric to go on my back.

Hi Chris,
The first few pages are probably not in strict chronological order since I had some of the kilts before I began the album. However, the general idea is that I add new photos as new kilts come along - and I always date them now.

I don't really have much of an opinion on kilt length. Much depends upon the style of kilt. I guess though that I am now wearing my traditional kilts a shade longer than I did, say 20 years ago - at the age of 70, I just feel it is more 'seemly'! On the whole, I still wear them just at the top of the knee-cap. Camera angles can lengthen or shorten the kilt too!

I'll admit it, I own a green spartan, and my wife wants a purple one. It doesn't get much wear outside the house though. Typically under dark of night when I'm walking the dogs. But I must say, it's damn comfortable to wear!
