This was undoubtedly filmed at Geoffrey (Tailor) Ltd's Tartan Weaving Mill & Exhibition, which is located immediately next to Edinburgh Castle's esplanade. It is the last building on the right as you approach the castle.
Whilst the exhibition is very slightly 'touristy', admission is free and the process of producing tartan starting with the sheep is clearly and interestingly displayed. It is with the large number of looms working there that Geoffrey (Tailor) Ltd weaves hundreds of the tartans and Auld Reekie tweeds that they use in much of their kiltmaking. Visitors also have a supervised opportunity to 'have a go' at hand weaving on an ancient loom brought in from the Isle of Harris. The noise created when all the looms are working together is, indeed, considerable but the operators (approximately one to every three looms) do wear ear-protectors!!
If ever you have a hour to spare whilst in Edinburgh, a visit to The Edinburgh Old Town Weaving Co., is well worth while.
