Oh boy, I think I found that one way too clever for my own good.

I'm almost embarassed that I got that one.
With all the EverQuest I've played, the first response to pop in to my mind was, "Don't be silly, Halflings don't wear kilts."

"Let me guess! You are a graduate student in theology, aren't you? It shows."
"Certainly am. Now if you will excuse me, I need to sharpen my sickle, find a virgin and an oak tree. Must run. Bye now."
"Darn, the kilt gave me away again."
"Odd, most people spell and pronounce that S C O T!"
Cheers
Great Panache! I especially love the last 2!

Tonight after dinner with friends at LaRosa's, I stopped in at Graeter's Ice Cream for a treat. I was wearing my black UK with boots and a robin-egg blue shirt. On my way out of the store, I had to wait at the door for a family family of five or so - four adults and a small girl about 4.5 years of age - to get their act together before I could exit.
The dad eventually helped make way for me and I passed through the group:
Kid: "That man is wearing girl pants!"
Mom: "Shh. It's a kilt."
Dad: Embarrassed grin in my direction.
Me: Returned the grin with a shrug. Regards,

The best was when I stopped at a booth selling hats and was looking over the wares (being combing impaired and having forgotten to bring a head covering, the sunbreaks were starting to worry me.) I moved in next to a young couple, and could see the woman glance down at the kilt, then at the man on her other side, then back to the kilt. Then she leans over to the other man and asks, "Do you still have the Utilikilt I got you for your birthday?" He mumbles an answer. She says with a note of exasperation in her voice, "Then why the hell don't you ever wear it?"
That made the overcast day seem much more sunny. :lol
So, the question: What is the best (or at least your favorite) comment overheard while you were kilted?
Now that's funny

OK, I almost choked on my soda when I read this, I was laughing so hard.
My favorite? I'm walking across campus with my Black Watch on, sporran, hose, the works, and this Chinese woman comes running up to me. She grabs me by the arm, and exclaims...
oh, you must be Jewish!
Still haven't figured that one out, yet.
