Chicago Highland Games and Festival
So, the Chicago Highland Games is coming Friday June 16 and Saturday June 17.
It will include music by Mother Grove and Rathkeltair, Arts & Culture fiddle, and harp and Celtic music performances.
Anybody else plannin on attending? It is a big Games and should be fun.
Check out the link above for more info, or feel free to contact me. I am not associated with the games, but I am willing to help with any questions if I can.

I'll be at the games. My two girls will be in the dance competition in the morning. It's a pretty good games and lot to do for little kids. You should check my post below about the Springfield highland games.

(bumping this puppy up as the time draws nigh)
...and my totally insensitive relatives are all planning their kids graduation parties for the Saturday! Guess they're going to have to put up with a kilted uncle and his "I'm-not-with-this-guy" looking kilted daughter.

D'oh! Thanks AA, forgot the link!
We'll hook up. I'll PM you in the next week or so and confirm when we'll be there. My DW will be out of town so I will be riding herd by myself. Of course, that means I can keep my own schedule!

...och, and there's even a coupon!
By way of a bump...and because there's a coupon in the paper, one more reminder about the Chicago Highland Games...which are a actually in Oak Brook...I remember when they used to have them in Grant Park right in downtown Chicago...but that's as may be....
Anywhooo...
...there has been a coupon in the Chicago Tribune (don't know about the Sun Times) the past week or so that reads:
"With the utmost reluctance and a heavy heart, we offer ye this coupon for $3.00 off admission to the Illinois St. Anrew Society Highland Games and Scottish Festival." (I'd like to point out that that's $3.00 US...not $3.00 Canadian...which would be, like, $2.65 US based on today's exchange rate...not as good as when I was in Vancouver a few years ago but, hey, I always felt that there shoud be more parity between the currency in the US and Canada...but I digress...as usual.)

AA, thanks for the tip. I will have to check the paper today. I am also going to check the site and see if they have one or offer discounted advance tickets.

...and...to continue to beat this dead horse...on to the weather for this weekend...
It looks like it is going to be damnably hot - in the mid nineties - for the Highland Games here this weekend. Just when I was thinking that the crew from Greenville had a tough time with the heat at their games!
I fear that we will again witness the appearance of the dreaded kilt-with-a-cowboy-hat this weekend...I'm taking my shade with me.

Better that than the dreaded "passed out regimental Scotsman" on the Games field! Although, you might get that blue ribbon....
Seriously, I will be bringing my Aussie type hat seen in one of my recent posts. Being from FL, I don't fool around with sun exposure. Even though we are in the "North", the sun can still be brutal. Sunscreen all around will be the order of the day for us, and I am thinking we will leave before the high sun of the day, or find shade in a clan tent or event tent.
