I'm Impressed

Not sure what happened to the thread Jimmy Carbomb started a few days ago about how good the new Stillwater Ballistic Nylon Sporran was. He's one of the people who's reccomendation carries serious weight with me.
And, just prior to that pics were posted of Ham wearing one.
With reccomendations like that, and me still trying to find the right fit for sporrans/vests/belt pouches to wear with my tartan kilts I placed my order with Stillwater.
First time we've done business.
Placed the order on Tuesday afternoon my time, probably after they were closed for the day. Today, Friday, at noon the sporran is at the post office.
Field tests follow, but on initial inspection it seems all others on the board have shared.
I'm just not used to having such a fast exchange of money for product in the kilt world. Obvious reasons for hand made kilts, but have waited for weeks for stock kilt hose, sporran straps, other sporrans....
A breath of fresh air.
A glimmer of hope.
Refreshing.

Very fast
I too have been impressed at the speed / response I have gotten from Stillwater.

I can't say enough about the prompt service I had from SWK! I placed my order for my Wallace Economy on a Fridat afternoon and had it in the mail on Monday at noon.
Ron, I have been seriously considering the Nightstalker, the service from SWK has not been a question for me, but I eagerly await your product review!

Hey Wolf,
My review is REAL simple...GET YOU ONE WHILE THEY'RE IN STOCK.
If BOTH Ham and Jimmy own one, that's about the best recommendation you can get.
Heck of a deal. Its about the same size as the basic Buzz Kidder leather sporran only thicker sides. And instead of a "monkey trap" hole in the top into a dark pouch its got a top that unzips to halfway down each side, another pouch in front that velcros, and a little zip pocket on the flap that if Stillwater was wise they'd fill with their business cards.
I really like the look with my USA Kilt Casuals. (No, don't own any Stillwater kilts and you all know why)
QUESTION: Has anyone added their clan pin to the flap? Don't know if that would mess up the nylon or not....?

I have a clover pin on my SWK sporran, and it dossn't seem to reck the nylon. Although I guess it really depends on the size of the pin?

Ron, I knew you would like it! It is a great sporran. It is the one I wear almost every time I put on a sporran now. Just so much easier to keep things organized. I was really missing it today when I wore my brown casual sporran, the SWK has that small zippered compartment on the flap that is just right for hloding the small change, but you can pull it open enough to see what is in there. Today I was left to rummaging around in the bottom of the casual sporran for change when I went to pay for lunch.
The kilt concealed a blaster strapped to his thigh. Lazarus Long

I too had a wonderful experience. I placed the order online and within 3 days it was at my house. I haven't used mine yet, but having dealt with a lot of ballistic nylon in the way of holsters, et cetera, it's obvious this is a pretty good piece of kit.

Okay, back from my first field test with this puppy. I really like it.
First thing I notice is how much lighter it is. Went to our local Relay for Life cancer fighting fundraiser. Took wallet, keys, small camera, change. Hardly noticed I had a sporran on. Being lighter it seemed less hassle when driving.
Main thing I like, as KCW mentione,d is the compartments. I can actually get to my stuff one handed and without looking. That's a big plus for me.
Put some kiltmaker's cards in the little flap pocket, my wallet by itself in the velcro pocket, and the rest of the stuff in the big pocket.
So nice to be able to go right to my wallet and not have to disentangle it from my keys etc.
Didn't need any change tonight but see what KCW means that the flap pocket would be perfect for it.
So...now I'm enthused and want more....when's it coming out in brown?...and green?

Mine just arrived today. The Army has me put up in a hotel. I was out adjusting the rear wheel of my bike when I noticed the USPS truck arrive. Followed the postman into the lobby and grabbed my box. Got a kilt belt, sporran strap, and a subdued buckle as well. Put it together with my eBay BW and a pair of black Dr. Martens and good ol' Army black wool sox. Doesn't look too bad to me. Perhaps it's a bit subdued for some people, but I'm a subdued kinda guy. I like the sporran a lot. Right now, just playing with configurations and trying to work up the nerve to wear it to the pub tonight. Wish I had it yesterday. There were two guys in Revolutionary War dress - I would have blended in a bit more.

Just tell everyone you're lookin' for the guys that were there the night before; you got a bone to pick with 'em.
