    Thumbs up Church

I wear one to church every Sunday. Sometimes a UK... Sometimes a Tank... But (almost) always kilted.

If I don't wear a kilt, people look at me strange, and some ask what's wrong... ;)

As soon as my AmeriKilt arrives, I will be wearing it to church with my clerical collar ... and as I am bigger than everyone in my congregation, even my priest, no one better look sideways!

And I'm sure that the addiction will grow until I've added a Ross tartan kilt (or two, as there is also a hunting tartan) into the mix. Then there's the McColls on my mother's side ...

    Amen.

I haven't worn anything but a kilt to church in nearly 5 years. For a long time I was an usher and took up the offering in a kilt. Was also a greeter on occasion. Last Dec, I was Joseph in the Christmas pagent in a kilt. [
It is a little hard to see the kilt under the robe. I used to wear UK's, but other than the mocker, it is usually a tartan now.

I've been wearing a kilt to the General Protestant service at our military post chapel since January. Not every week, but about twice a month. First few times I received some nice comments, but now it's just accepted. I generally wear an Argyll jacket and tie, so I'm more dressed up than a lot of the men attending.

The Chaplain is OK with it so I don't worry about it.
Most of the soldiers here are 20 to 40 years old and I'm 60 so there may be some deference to age, too.

I bought a Clan Hay flag recently, so that I could carry it in the parade of tartans at some games I've attended, or at a Kirkin o' the Tartan service if there is no other Clan Hay representative.

You're probably just the senile old geezer in the kilt to most of them.

You're probably right!! When the Sergeant's Major are not much older than my oldest child, it does make one feel "Ancient" LOL

I always wear a kilt to church, either a UK or tank. That includes when I'm singing, up on stage, as part of the Worship Team.

I've always gotten positive reinforcement for me wearing my kilts to church. Of course, our chuch was started by a bunch of Jesus Freaks back in the 70s, so non-traditional clothing, unusual hair styles or colors, tattoos, piercings, etc. are perfectly normal at our church. In fact, what would seem "weird" at our church is someone in a suit & tie! (Though, they'd be welcome, too!)

    A kilt? That's kool!

I had a friend tell me a story over the weekend about his brother.

It was this man's first visit to an Orthodox Church. As he approached he saw three men, kilted, smoking, one with a patch over one eye, standing on the steps into the church.

His reaction? "What the heck am I doing?!?"

He did make it in, not only that local church, but eventually was Chrismated and received into the Orthodox Church.
