    Hawaiian shirts!

On another thread by Morath, the topic of Hawaiian shirts with kilts came up. In keeping with my new outlook to pair my solid color kilts with the same shirts I woudl have worn with trousers of the same color, today I wore my Mickey Mouse themed Hawaiian, button shirt with my gray UK mocker. Now, in my pre-kilt days, I would normally have worn this particular shirt, and some others, with navy pants, or a pair of dark (not navy) blue/black herringbone trousers. However, I think it looks fine as is. A funny comment from my wife this AM is that she was not sure about the look. She said the shirt was very casual and the kilt too formal to match! Yet, I think that if I had been wearing my Teva sandals, she would not have looked twice.

On the upside, I definitelt need to get a solid color navy kilt. I will then have a solid color kilt in all of the same colors as the trousers I used to wear.

Now to the pics. First, me and my littlest:

    Now, me by myself:

And finally, one without so much glare, but taken by my littlest one, so it misses some body parts!

Hawaiian shirts are great. They're probably my favorite shirt to wear with my UK, although I wouldn't recommend them with a tartan. Still, I bet Hamish could find a way...

I'm bad, I wear Hawaiian shirts with my kilt. I wear them untucked and unbuttoned with a tshirt under. And sandals.
I'll get Hamish to lose hair yet.

btw the dark pic lets us see your MM better.

One might look to the decorator for inspiration - these are handsome rooms - except I'm not sure why you'd want to look like drapes and a bedskirt.

I think KCW's approach is sensible. I usually reach for a shirt with some sort of pattern, be it a check, plaid, stripe, or occasionally a print, to go with my solid UKs.

Hamish has already spoken on the matter, however.

Cool pics. Most of my shirts are hawaiian shirts, they were the only clothing I wanted to buy before I got the cilt fever.

Maybe so, but unless its really hot and you're going for really casual, I think they look much worse untucked, when worn with a kilt.

I too have a small selection of Hawaiian/Aloha shirts that I wear with my UKs. Wore one today that matched great with my Postal Blue Mocker, and still had matching tones when I changed into the Basil/Sage Survival.

However, its the couple small patterned silk shirts I have that get me the most positive comments on my attire.

I'm with Archangel, someone somewhere (You Archangel??) showed me the open Hawaiian shirt over t-shirt look.

Here are a few from earlier in the spring when it was still cool enough to wear kilt hose. Now wear this look with sandals for knocking around, or with the $6.00 SportKilt "kilt hose/soccer sox" pushed down. Guess I need some pics of that.

I'm a Hawaiian shirt junkie too and have about 40. Gonna find a way to wear them with kilts and this works best for me. Easy Ham....easy...its the colonies....

Okay, this was really pushing it for Mardi Gras...Aloha shirt, Tye Dye, and kilt. Maybe for that don't do this list??

Another theme, a Route 66 Aloha shirt with a Route 66 t-shirt and black UK Workman's

A hot green look with the Aloha shirt, t-shirt and basil UK survival II without the cargo pockets which gives it a mocker-like look.

Or pushing the envelope with a Western look, a blanket jacket with t-shirt and UK blue denim kilt.

Ain't it fun to play with the fringes of fashion??!!

Poking around my gallery realize I need to take some spring pictures...someday.

    keep havin' fun!

Great set of pictures. Must have taken you an age to change that many times! I think you demonstrate very well the versatility of a plain kilt. I've got a lot of striped shirts which just don't go well with my tratan kilts. Must get a plain one.

    Thanks
