Always for formal wear, rarely for casual wear.

Horse feathers.

... Thus far, I have ALWAYS used a sporran. It looks good, traditional, practical, and is a good weight to keep the front flaps down (preventing accidental "flashing"). Now, without one, I feel as if something is missing.
I wear sporrans probably a third of the time. Yes, they look traditional when I want that look, but I find them generally to be a nuisance, an annoyance, and uncomfortable. To my way of thinking, they are not much more functional than a necktie. Now, without one, I feel a greater degree of freedom.

What do y'all think?
I generally follow the gospel according to Hamish. It just makes sense.
