I saw them Memorial Day weekend at the East Durham Irish Festival. I actually enjoyed them less than I have in the past. I'm not saying they were bad, or that I did not enjoy them at all, but I'll admit to some disappointment.

There was nothing technically wrong with the playing. Something about the style just doesn't work for me. I felt the same way while watching The Prodigals.

I prefer celtic music with a slightly harder edge myself, but it's nice to sit back and relax to some lighter stuff too. The Bhoys are a little folkier than i'm use to but I have to support a friend (Phatpiper) in his endevors. It's not for everyone but what band is. I just like to see Phatpiper in his element, on stage.

I got my first chance to see them last night at the Irish Fest in Cuyuhoga Falls, OH. and I thought they were awesome!
Mirand is not only beautiful, but plays a men fiddle, can dance up a storm and has the voice of an angel!
Ewan blows some mean pipes and is just an all around great showman, and played kilted. My wife though he was "pretty cute" as well!
All in all a great show!!

    Me Too

I also was at the Riverfront to see the Glegary boys. Darn nice sound and great fiddle. Could have had a better guy running the board (phatpiper was a little muted at times). Sorry I missed you Misticwolf. I was in my Irish National. Saw a couple of kilties there what were you wearing? Royal Stewart?

I seem to recall seeing someone in what I told my wife looked to be an Irish National. I was in my Wallace Red Modern.Overall
I was bit disappointed with the fest, as it seemed to lack in things connected to Celtic culture.
As to the sound, I can say as a sound engineer myself, sometimes having unfamiliar equipment thrown at you makes it difficult. I agree that it was hard to pick out the piper at times, but I thought he did some great things in terms of effects, again overall a very good show.

Looks like two nights in Homer, NY of all places this weekend.

Anyone in the Finger Lakes area should head that way...

I think me and the missus will be at one of the shows....
