Jet Jaguar, Godzilla's robotic friend. Its sort of my 'face' online, though for no particular reason. I am a huge Godzilla fan, so I chose that image for my first avatar at a board some many years ago, and now it has followed me through about half a dozen accounts at various message boards and sites online.

Mine is the Clan Kincaid crest, on Kincaid tartan. Not a terribly original idea, BUT it's all my original art. The full-size version is framed in the living room; the tartan actually shows the texture of the fabric, and the crest is quite three-dimensional. Then, it's animated because I can!

Here's a little better view of the original:

My avatar is a modification of a Real McKenzies T-shirt I have. I changed the kilt to a Bruce tartan (from McKenzie), changed the Lion from red to blue (Our Coat of Arms has a blue lion on it) and changed the background to the shield of Robert the Bruce (also included in our Coat of Arms).

Mine's Collin's Diner in Conneticut. Great little 1940's diner. completely original. Looks like it just rolled out of the O'mahony diner company factory.

This is perhaps, getting off topic for this thread, but let it be known that if my father is mentioned within my earshot, no matter how peripherally, a long conversation will (hopefully) ensue.

The description "tough looking gent" is perhaps more appropriate even than you might have imagined. If I'm right, the picture my avatar was cropped from was taken when my father was just back from the war. From what I've read and studied about World War II, my father was, one might say, in the thick of things. He came back not unaffected by the experience.

The picture depicts him quietly, as I perceive it, "moving on." The horror was finally over. He had, as had his antecedents for generations, done his duty for his country (or clan/colony/state or for whatever they perceived as their duty). It is John Powell Gilmore at his best, which is no small thing because he was a profoundly good man all his life.

That's why I use his image as my avatar. It is a far more significant tribute than merely portraying my clan crest or tartan; the personal nature of honoring my father goes deeper than clan tribute - in my humble estimation.

    Regards,
    Scott Gilmore

That's a wonderful tribute to your father, Scott. Great story.

My avatar looks to like a ball of quicksilver (elemental mercury for the chemists) moving around. I've studied Hg geochemistry almost contiunusouly since 1997 so it's been a big part of my life.
