    Feedback on Robert MacDonald?

A friend of my wife's has a traditional kilt made in Vancouver by Robert MacDonald. I have not seen the kilt, but our friend likes it. Apparently MacDonald does work for the Seaforth Highlanders.

Anybody have any information on him? An internet search reveals little except that he writes for thetyee.ca sometimes.

I thought I had read an article about him in Vancouver Magazine about a year ago. I tried to find contact information, but had no luck. If you you get any information about contact details, quality, prices, etc...please post it here or PM me. I would be very interested in seeing the work of more of our local kiltmakers.

I'll have a look at my wife's friend's kilt. If I like it, I'll ask this Rob MacDonald to make my XMarks kilt. (I just sent Steve the cheque for run 2b of the tartan.)

I have a phone number but have not contacted him. PM me if you want the number.

    Hi Ron

I'm not meaning to be intrusive, and Colin has forgotten more than I'll ever know. However, you don't mean David McDonald, do you? I'm guessing not, but thought it was worth a shot. His website is here Please disregard this if it's not who you're after.

No, StoneCold. The guy I am asking about is the topic of this article:

    http://www.vancourier.com/issues02/0...014202nn1.html

and the author of this one:

    http://thetyee.ca/Life/2004/01/22/Ha...All_Its_Glory/

    Thanks for the suggestion, though.

    Hey Don,
The guy I was refering to was in this issue of Vancouver Magazine
    http://www.vanmag.com/ARCHIVES/0409.html
I have met David MacDonald several times and even had a Canada Kilt for awhile.

Ron, I will see how your kilt turns out first. I am in no rush for another one right now, but will keep it in mind and as a reference for the future and for others.

    found Me!

So there I was, bored and google-ing myself to see if, now that I HAVE a website, anyone is able to FIND the thing....and this thread comes up on the first page.

Wander through my website (www.westcoastkilts.com) - which is the Coles Notes of what I've been telling customers for years - while I drum up some previous customers you can query. I'll try to find someone who thinks I'm a complete tosser so that you have a balanced perspective.

    Slainte

    Rob MacDonald

(in my youth, "kilty-kilty-cauld-bum" is what the street urchins used to screech at us when we went by)

NB: if my reply violates some etiquetteof which I'm unaware, mea maxima cupla.

Welcome Rob. A good looking site you have. Any pictures of your work? Did not see a link, but might have missed it.

    Rob:

I'm not a moderator of this forum, so I can only speak for myself, but I don't believe any etiquette was violated here. It is always good to see more traditional kilt makers out there. Nice Web site too. Very professional looking. Some photos would be nice, but you have probably thought of this already.
