NEVER NEVER NEVER destroy perfectly good blades! There are too many of us out here scrabbling to collect and preserve them! My personal collection (200+) includes everything from Girl Scout knives to advertising trinkets to bayonets to swords to limited edition commemoratives. I'll be happy to provide any unwanted blades a good home- and to catalog them for return if ever desired. I have blades from my great-grandfather, grandfather, father, several uncles, friends, and even a couple with historical significance. Although my wife doesn't like it when I fuss at her for mistreating our Case XX kitchen knives…

I use a false Sgian Dubh for every day use( top left ) The real one I will still use when I wear full highland dress.

You mean the jimping, or filework, on the back of the blade that keeps your thumb from slipping if you're actually using the knife?
Those little fileworked cuts are absolutely useless for "fish scaling." They're very handy for keeping your thumb where it needs to be for point control.
I can't believe anyone actually thinks that those should be counted as "sharpening." That's just insane.
