About that belt…

Morath, try the Scottish Tartans Museum. I know a lot of fellows would disagree, but I'm one of those that believes in the K.I.S.S. theory. Simplicity often catches the eye more than extravagence. And the casual kilt belt and buckle does exactly that. Width on it is 2.5".

I want to tell you, I got a first hand look at that belt yesterday, It is a very high quality, distinctive piece of leatherwork. It is one great looking belt! Besides that I got to meet Smaughazard and his wife, the belt was the key to recognizing him. Fine looking kilt, great looking belt.

I enjoyed my trip to the museum yesterday, I also got to meet Matt he measured me for what I thought was going to be 16 oz, 8 yard tank. Surprise, my girth has expanded so it will take 9 yards of pleats and apron to get around me. BTW, it's in Ancient Lamont tartan. Let the jonesing begin.

Didn't mean to hi-jack the thread, I had a great time, met two X-markers, got to order another kilt, even ate lunch at that famed Scottish restaurant McDonald's, what a day!

Actually, it kindda reminds me of a weightlifting belt (which is good for the lower back).

Now, I am interested in in (if only I had any $$$$$$$$$$).

Well, for what its worth, this Ronald Macdonald prefers the 2 1/4" belts from AmeriKilts. Quality for a fair price.

I do like that "weight belt" look though. Anything distinctive is good.

And, I only eat at McDonald's about once a year to remind myself why I don't eat there.

The belt was custom-made for me courtesy of Arthur Spelman Rose, who designed it. He refers to these belts as the "Three Roses Kilt Belt", and plans production of no more than 1000. Mine is #0341, is stamped with my initials, and came with a nice certificate of authenticity. The belts are actually constructed by Art's Amish friend, Joniah Hostetler, and are beautifully hand-crafted. The belt is a full 4" wide, of saddle-grade leather (gorgeous thick stuff!) with high-quality nickel hardware that is normally used only in horse tack. Sorry if I sound like a commercial, but I love this belt! I don't think he would mind that I give you all his contact info:

Mine ended up at 9 yards too. Matt gave me a delivery date of end Of JUne and they beat that be nearly two weeks. Having Matt do the measurements in person was well worth a two day trip to Franklin. My kilt turned out to be the best fitting kilt I own. Next thing I need to get from Matt is a nice kilt jacket to go with it.
