I occurs to me that there may be a market for hose top "falsies"...nicely rolled cuffs of hose material that would be pulled on first and then the regualr socks would be put on and tucked up under the false top....

....could be a reasonable solution for those guys with the big calfs...it seems like there's just not enough material for a nice rolled over cuff by the time their calfs have taken up most of the material of the sock. Perhaps the uneconomical solution is to sacrifice one pair to create the false tops.
