Welcome back! I can certainly sympathize with your connection woes. We had only the option of dial-up for years; with huge graphics files, electronic transfer wasn't even possible, and I had to mail Zip disks or CDs to publishers and printers. Then DSL came along, but the phone lines in our neighborhood made that a horror story too. When our local cable company finally decided to offer broadband, I was lucky enough to be a beta-tester for the cable service (I had the first macintosh on their system, and advised other local Mac users on connection difficulties). Now we're on our 7th year of cable-modem use with only one major problem (due to a nearby lightning strike), and I just don't consider anything else a viable option.
