I learned on a 1951 Matchless 500 twin which at that time was basicaly an AJS with Matchless badging.

Currently a 2000 Honda Goldwing GL1500SE. I need/want a scooter and a KLR650 and Heritage Softtail and R1150RT. Yup if I had five bikes I would get bigger discount on insurance and thats my only reason for wanting more of those beautiful sexy machines, errr economical transportation vehicles.
some bike pics, sorry no umbrella girls

Wow, I see a lot of common threads in these posts! So Randy, did you ever document the BB1500 you mention on your page? I noticed I'd set a 15.5 hour pace on my SS1000, but don't know if I could've maintained it to get my BB1500 Gold (I certainly wouldn't have done it on the route I chose for the 1000 miles!). Robert (Canuck), I've got a very large soft spot for bikes like your Madura: the two bikes I had before the Blackbird were V65 Magnas, a sort of Honda "cousin" to your ride.
I see a nice broad cross section of makes and manufacturers, although I only see one person who borders on the masochistic: Smaughazard! Fourteen Beezers?!? you must spin a phenominal wrench! I envy you the space and time to revel in the mechanical history, though.
Bryan...ride safe, XMarkers...

The Madura is a sleeper...very fast bike ....close to maintanance free. It was ahead of it's time. Some say a rather ugly bike but it's coming into it's own now. This site got me over to buying this one. http://www.lk3000.com/madura/
I was more in the market for a Honda ST1100 but didn't have the funds. I'd go for a beemer but the insurance for these bikes is rather high. In Ontario I pay $550 per year basic coverage. I've been liicensed for 35 years and clean record. I hear folks in the States paying under $100 per year...it's all relative.
That Blackbird is a nice bike good throaty growl to it is well.
Very nice rides fellows...keep your eyes open for the escape and ride safely.
Cheers
Robert

1972 CB450. 1009.8 miles. Needs a basic tuneup and tank cleaning to be roadworthy. This is a pic of it at the old house in Floriduh.

I am a fairly new rider. I have always wanted to have a motorcycle. I figured I am almost 39 years old and I shouldn't let this chance pass. I went out and bought a new 2004 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100. I can see myself on a touring bike as I get older. I am also fond of older bikes like Triumphs, BSA, Indians, and Harley Davidsons.
I added the backrest, cargo rack, and saddlebags a few months ago. I have a few other things I would like to add this summer. The next thing I will add is an aftermarket seat. The stock seat is really uncomfortable after about sixty miles.

It's going to be in the low to mid 70s all week. I'll get a lot of riding in this week. O'Neille
