When it comes to Clansman knitwear, "Caveat Emptor" definitely "Let The Buyer Beware"
"A day spent in the fields and woods, or on the water should not count as a day off our allotted number upon this earth."

Several other vendors carry from L&M. I've seen their products at SportKilt in the Sporran Section as well as on a product I recieved from Stillwater. I also know that the Scottish Merchant in Alexandria carries their products.

I will not buy anything again from Clansman Knitwear unless I can hold it in my hands first. You get promised the moon on delivery right up till it's late and way past the time it should arrive.

Hi, Charlie here,
The photo you are referring to was taken to show an Alexis Malcolm 8 yard traditional handmade kilt made from the Confederate Memorial tartan on our website. It was not taken to show a confederate soldier during that era. It happens to be our son in the photo and yes it is the exact weapon you described. By the way, he and his brothers are members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
On a sad note, Chris passed away on 5/28/05 (truly the worst day of our lives) and we miss him everyday.

Confederate Memorial Tartan Kilts
I've enjoyed reading the responses to the "model" wearing a kilt in the above tartan fabric. We used this photo of our son Christian on our commercial kiltmakers website show an Alexis Malcolm 8 yard traditional handmade kilt for those interested. It was not an attempt to show a confederate soldier wearing a kilt in the Confederate Memorial Tartan which being a "memorial" tartan was designed only recently. The weapon is a modern 50 cal. black powder rifle and only used a a prop for the photo.
All of my sons are members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and wear the tartan with pride.
On a very sad note, Christian passed away on 5/28/05 (truly the worst day of our lives) and we miss him very much.
Cheers,
