Many of us are living where we are now (North America, Australia, New Zealand, et al.) because our ancestors were involved with Scottish separatist movements.

...and I've been trying to figure out a way to write something congratulatory about Mr. Connery but I just can't figure out a way to do his particular dialect as printed word!

Sure, that was another major motivator. And when the landlords found out that sheep were more profitable than tenant farmers, they were "fired" and let go without even a handshake.
