Welcome to X-Marks and the addiction. Or is it an all consuming obsession?

Welcome from Sunny California! In all truth I'm more Dane, Dutch, and German in my heritage than Scot and love hearing from people from that part of the world.
Cheers

Welcome from Virginia USA to another kilted sci-fi fan. Congrats on your newly kiltedness and you may be interested in this thread just chatting about how many of us are sci-fi buffs.
Enjoy your time here.

Thanks to all again!
The Lord of the Rings are propably the books I've re-read most throughout my life (and I'm not even all that old yet), although I've recently been branching out more (used to have the mindset that since nothing could compete with Tolkien, why even read it. I sure missed out on a lot of good stuff)
I haven't heard of Mary Gentle, but I'll try to keep that book in mind when I'm out perusing bookstores.
On the subject of kilts, I really look forward to have one that I can wear everywhere at my leisure. I'm really inhibited by the lack of pockets on my current one, so I mostly wear it when I'm not going far.
I really want a non-traditional so I can wear it wherever.
Except at work, there's an express rule that males must wear long pants all year around.

Hey, welcome Ghâshûl!
Funnily enough I'm just this minute back from walking the dog in Denmark (I was wearing my kilt too!).
Look at waistcoats or jeans style jackets, anything no longer than the base of your spine. I find they give me enough pockets.
What part of DK are you from?
All the best

Welcome!
The lack of pockets is not a problem at all; that's what the sporran is for! ;-)
Now I know (thanks to Matt Newsome's research) that the kilt wasn't around at the same time as the Vikings, but king Magnus Barelegs of Norway was known for wearing the manner of dress preferred by the Scots, which was something unbifurcated and shorter than what the Vikings wore. I don't think it ever caught on broadly in Old Norse culture.
Really, check out that article he posted. It's most informative.

Thanks!
I'm from Sjælland.
I most often use a t-shirt only in the summertime. I guess I might broaden out more with time, but for my next one I want one of the newer styles like Utilikilt or such. Having a kilt with pockets might also be a 'stop along the way'. Who knows

Thanks for the welcome!
To me a sporran seems to my taste to suit best for formal wear, and what I'm looking for is propably to combine the kilt with a t-shirt and boots.
I shall read that article, but not until I get home from Wales. I really should get some sleep soon, plane leaves early.
