Viking in Kilt!

Funnily enough I'm just this minute back from walking the dog in Denmark (I was wearing my kilt too!).

Look at waistcoats or jeans style jackets, anything no longer than the base of your spine. I find they give me enough pockets.

The lack of pockets is not a problem at all; that's what the sporran is for! ;-)

Now I know (thanks to Matt Newsome's research) that the kilt wasn't around at the same time as the Vikings, but king Magnus Barelegs of Norway was known for wearing the manner of dress preferred by the Scots, which was something unbifurcated and shorter than what the Vikings wore. I don't think it ever caught on broadly in Old Norse culture.

I most often use a t-shirt only in the summertime. I guess I might broaden out more with time, but for my next one I want one of the newer styles like Utilikilt or such. Having a kilt with pockets might also be a 'stop along the way'. Who knows

To me a sporran seems to my taste to suit best for formal wear, and what I'm looking for is propably to combine the kilt with a t-shirt and boots.

I shall read that article, but not until I get home from Wales. I really should get some sleep soon, plane leaves early.

I've been wearing a lot of T-shirts with a breast pocket sewn on. Comes in handy with a lack of other pockets.

I have way too many t-shirts already, so that's not something I'm planning on buying

I like having, for instance, my wallet in my backpocket. If I had it in a jacket, I'd hang the jacket somewhere and forget about it. I don't hang away my pants/kilts while out and about.

I usually carry my wallet, my cellphone, my keychain, my buspass and a lighter. I need an assortment of different pockets to put them in, and I prefer it the jeans style of having a back pocket for the wallet, and frontpockets for the rest.

A warm welcome, Ghâshûl, from far West Texas. I too usually carry my wallet, cellphone, keychain, lighter, etc. When I wear a jacket everything is distributed in the pockets. Otherwise I use a Buzz Kidder Inverness sporran that holds it all.
